New Article Title: Winter Rapeseed Harvest 2024: Yield Estimates by Department

The winter rapeseed production forecast is 4.2 Mt, a decrease of 1.2% compared to 2023 and an increase of 11.5% compared to the average from 2019 to 2023. These changes are mainly due to the changes in the areas, which are slightly down compared to last year (-1.0%) but significantly up compared to the average from 2019 to 2023 (+15.3%). The yield, estimated at 31.6 q/ha, would be slightly lower than that of 2023 (-0.2%), but decreases more noticeably compared to the average from 2019 to 2023 (-3.3%), as detailed by Agreste in its June crop outlook note.

Agreste highlights a heterogeneity in yield potential among the main rapeseed production regions. “It would increase compared to 2023 in Grand Est (+3.6%) and Hauts-de-France (+5.3%), while it would decrease in Normandy (-0.3%) and Centre-Val de Loire (-3.1%).”
