Usually discreet about her own intimate life, Mireille Dumas confided as rarely in her spouse Dominique Colonna. In an interview with Gala, the producer returned to her relationship with the documentary filmmaker, which began in 1974. “I was 21. We started working together, then, from 1989, I directed my documentary films on my own. I needed to develop my own universe”.

The famous producer’s first support, Dominique Colonna also worked alongside her for her own programs on France 3. “Later, when I found myself on the air with Bas les Masques and other programs, Dominique was the director”, she confided to our colleagues. However, the couple has gone through several hardships after 47 years of living together.
If Mireille Dumas never wanted to have a child, she raised her husband’s son as her own. “I love children. I have a good relationship with children, but I never felt the urge to carry my child”, she explained on Non Stop People in 2020. Before mentioning his accidental death at the age of 36. “It was very hard, because I considered him at one point as my son. I don’t have a feeling of possession, whether it’s someone else’s child or my own, from the moment where we share life together.
After a difficult mourning, Mireille Dumas and her husband Dominique Colonna have overcome this ordeal and are more united than ever. For the host, the longevity of her couple comes down to “an alchemy between us [which] made things possible, without suffocating us”, before adding. “If we had done everything together, I think we would have separated. In fact, Dominique and I invented our couple and declined it in different forms”. A happy marriage heading towards their golden wedding anniversary!
