(Saint Paul) Forward Marcus Johansson has signed a two-year, $4 million contract extension with the Minnesota Wild.

Johansson, 32, had 19 goals and 27 assists in 80 games with the Wild and Washington Capitals last season. The Wild acquired his services on Feb. 28 for a third-round pick in the 2024 draft.

He had six goals and 12 assists in 20 games for the Wild after being acquired and added two goals in six games in the first round of the playoffs, when the Wild lost to the Dallas Stars.

Johansson was drafted in the first round, 24th overall, by the Capitals in 2009. He had 163 goals and 290 assists in 833 NHL games with the Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, Buffalo, the Seattle Kraken and the Wild.

Internationally, Johansson has represented Sweden five times, including at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
