Comedian Michel Côté, who died on Monday, will be made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec, posthumously.

Prime Minister François Legault made the announcement on Tuesday during a press briefing at the National Assembly.

He had already indicated on Monday, when the actor’s death was announced, that he was preparing to present him with this high distinction. The honor will ultimately be awarded to him posthumously.

Michel Côté, who suffered from a bone marrow disease, died at the age of 72. An actor adored by Quebecers, he notably distinguished himself through his roles in the films C.R.A.Z.Y., Cruising Bar or De père en cop.
