Canada’s Rebecca Marino advanced to the second round of the Miami Tennis Open with a 7-6(4), 6-2 win over Kazakh’s Yulia Putintseva on Tuesday.

After a tough first set, where she was unable to complete a break of serve, Marino, the 83rd player in the world, needed just 32 minutes to win the second set.

The 32-year-old British Columbian had a service break in the opening game of the second set and a second in the fifth game.

Against a 28-year-old player ranked 43rd in the world, Marino was dominant on serve, with 10 aces and no double faults.
