Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms Inc has stopped new users joining its social media tracking tool CrowdTangle because of staffing limitations.

Meta, which had disbanded CrowdTangle last year, was under pressure to give more transparency into its platforms.
Brandon Silverman, CrowdTangle’s founder and CEO, has resigned from Facebook (
Facebook) in the last year.

This tool can be used by individuals and organizations to analyze, report and follow public content on Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit.

CrowdTangle was moved recently to a new transparency and data team. The team is currently working through transitions and considerations in staffing, according to a Meta spokesperson.

The spokesperson stated that CrowdTangle is temporarily unable to accept new members while they address staffing issues.
According to the spokesperson, new users can still be added to existing company accounts via the tracking tool.
