He is the most famous master of hypnosis in the PAF. Messmer is in the spotlight this Friday April 7 on TF1 where he will record an incredible performance. During an evening hosted by Arthur under the Dome of Paris, will demonstrate his talents as a hypnotist in front of 3,500 anonymous and famous spectators.

“Throughout the evening, Messmer will experiment with the subjects most receptive to hypnosis. Whether they are stars, journalists or spectators in the audience, all will lose control for a single purpose… that of us. fun: giggles guaranteed”, publishes the chain in a press release. It was without counting on the highlight of the evening for Messmer.

The goal: to break his own world record by hypnotizing 1,000 people in 6 minutes. “In 2017, at the Videotron Center in Quebec City, I managed to hypnotize 854 people in 5 minutes…”, he told Télé 7 Jours magazine. From this talent which arouses as much admiration as skepticism among the subjects, Messmer has made this gift his business since he performs in shows around the world.

But, how did the Canadian artist discover his calling? Eric Normandin, his real name, would have discovered the art of hypnosis during his childhood. He would have studied this discipline in particular “in a grimoire transmitted by his grandfather”, according to his online site. “Since I was 7 years old, it has become a way of life. But at home or with my loved ones, I have always refused because I would be afraid that they would think that I was influencing their choices according to mine”, he admits to Le Figaro in 2013.

The famous hypnotist, who takes his artist name from one of the pioneers of magnetism Franz-Anton Mesmer, is as discreet about his work as in his private life. After being married for the first time for 22 years, Messmer met Sophie Beliveau. The young Canadian had come to attend one of her shows with a friend.

“We actually met on stage,” she joked to Gala in 2019. First, skeptical of hypnosis, Messmer invited him to join him to be his guinea pig. “I found myself dancing and singing, which is not my style at all. I wondered what he could have done to my brain. I asked him to teach me”.

Since then, the couple has formalized their relationship and works in pairs since it is became his assistant, under the name of Bellair.

From his first marriage, Messmer welcomed his first children, Antoine and Cédérick. Two sons aged 30 and 28 who today walk in the footsteps of their fathers. Indeed, the two “somniferous brothers” have launched their own show in Quebec and practice hypnosis in an interactive show.

Since he is in a relationship with his assistant Sophie, the fifties has expanded his family.
