No lead is enough in the Masters Tournament. Brooks Koepka learned this the hard way on Sunday afternoon. He repeated the mistakes and his partner Jon Rahm took advantage. The Spaniard was brilliant and efficient enough to win the famous green jacket, thanks to a cumulative score of -12.
Koepka had a two-shot lead over Rahm at the start of the final round.
His front nine, however, was disastrous, with a score of 39 (3). His short game had been his bread and butter since the start of the tournament, and while his intentions were good, the American just didn’t have the sidelines.
Rahm, while not extraordinary, was cautious in contrast to his third-round play. The third player in the world ranking took advantage of his chances to hurt Koepka, in particular thanks to important putts. He was also awfully efficient and smart with his tee shots.
Rahm played cleanly and dropped Koepka en route to the green jacket and a second major title.
He becomes the fourth Spaniard to win the Masters Tournament.
