Beware if you have recently purchased Basmati rice from Lidl. The discount brand is carrying out a massive recall of a batch of the Golden Sun brand packaged in a 1 kg bag, indicates the government site Rappel Conso.
“Investigations carried out due to the detection of aflatoxins on certain batches in Europe, led to the withdrawal and recall of this product as a precaution”, can we read on the recall sheet. This is lot 20364625 with a “minimum durability date” of July 13, 2023. You will find all Lidl stores affected by this recall in the slideshow at the end of the article.
Aflatoxin is a mycotoxin produced by certain fungi that thrives especially in warm, humid places. “Only consuming large quantities of contaminated products can lead to health problems,” the statement read.
