After the GrandTurismo, it’s now the turn of Maserati’s compact SUV to get electrified. Having just been launched, the Grecale now casts a wide net on the technical level, testifying to a strategy of conquest by the Italian manufacturer.

Because it goes without saying that the brand with the trident wants to seduce a wider audience after years of standing still with niche models. The Grecale is the central nucleus of this renewal focusing on an increase in sales volume. This electric livery of the Grecale, named Folgore and presented at the Shanghai Auto Show, spreads rather convincing arguments as a premise. With its two electric motors producing 557 hp and its 102 kWh battery, this newcomer promises performance with a 0-100 km/h in 4.1 s, but also an acceptable autonomy estimated for the moment at 500 km according to the European protocol.

However, it has a 400 V electrical architecture, setting it back in this respect and limiting the maximum charging power to 150 kW. That said, going from 20 to 80% charge will take 29 minutes on compatible terminals, which is still acceptable. On the chassis side, an air suspension ensures comfort as well as supervision of body movements.

The Maserati Grecale Folgore is part of a project to electrify all the brand’s models from 2025.
