Martine Allain-Regnault, former host of Savoir plus santé, is dead

She was one of the figures of scientific and medical journalism in the 90s. Journalist Martine Allain-Regnault died at the age of 85. France Télévisions announced the sad news on its Twitter account this Saturday, October 8, 2022. “France Télévisions salutes the memory of Martine Allain-Regnault, a significant and emblematic figure in medical journalism on Antenne 2 then France 2, particularly in the ‘Savoir Plus Santé program, with François de Closets”, wrote the audiovisual group. However, the causes of his disappearance have not yet been communicated.

Born on March 2, 1937, the journalist from Abbeville (Somme) began her career in the written press, with the magazine Science et Vie from 1962 to 1990. She also collaborated with the newspaper Le Monde. In 1977, she took her first steps on screen by becoming a senior health reporter for Antenne 2. In 1987, she joined TF1. She notably produced and co-hosted the shows Viva le vie with Philippe Risoli and Télé calories with Frédéric Lepage.

In 1992, Martine Allain-Regnault returned to public service. She made an impression on France 2 viewers with the program Savoir plus santé, which she co-hosted with François de Closets until 2000, then with Laurent Broomhead until 2004. In 1997, the weekly magazine specializing in science and health received the 7 d’or for the best culture and knowledge programme.

Martine Allain-Regnault has written numerous health books, in particular Objective heart: can we avoid cardiovascular diseases, Tele-Calories or even A child has just been born. On the private side, the journalist had a daughter named Charlotte, born in 1970.
