From June 7 to 17, 2022, the French actress, Marion Cotillard, performs the title role of the play Jeanne d’Arc au Bûcher, Arthur Honegger’s oratorio. A character that was originally to be played by Spanish actress Irene Escolar but eventually returned to the Oscar-winning star.

This is not the first time that Guillaume Canet’s companion has taken on the role of Joan of Arc. Already in 2005, her Orleans fans had been able to see her play on stage in the play Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, Arthur Honegger’s oratorio directed by Jean-Marc Cochereau. In 2012, she had again found the boards in Barcelona in Spain before returning in 2015 in the same room in Paris then in New York. A character she knows inside out since in 2018 and 2019, the star also played in Italy and Romania.

In addition to this play, Marion Cotillard will also star in the film Frère et Soeur, which is scheduled for release in 2022. A French film directed by Arnaud Desplechin which was presented in official competition at the last Cannes Film Festival. Last year, the actress starred in the Franco-German-Belgian musical film Annette alongside Adam Driver and Simon Helberg. An award-winning feature film which had also been awarded many times. In 2021, the film had received no less than five Césars, including the César for best director and the César for best original music.
