(Greenville) Quebec’s Cassandre Prosper and the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish were eliminated from the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
Ranked third in the first leg of the draw in Greenville, South Carolina, the Fighting Irish lost 76-59 to the No. 2 University of Maryland Terrapins in the third round.
The Terrapins are now awaiting the winning team of the matchup between the No. 1 South Carolina University Gamecocks and the No. 4 UCLA Bruins.
In 36 minutes of play, Prosper had eight points, six rebounds, one assist and two blocks.
The Fighting Irish had made it to this point in the tournament by defeating the Southern Utah Thunderbirds and then the Mississippi State University Bulldogs.
A native of Rosemère, Prosper finished fifth in scoring at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup last year.
His older brother, Olivier-Maxence, is with the Marquette University Golden Eagles, but his men’s tournament ended last Sunday against the Michigan State University Spartans.
