The MaPrimeRénov’ scheme is a financial aid set up by the government to encourage owners to carry out energy renovation work in their homes. Since its launch in January 2020, this aid has undergone several developments and modifications. The system was created to replace the energy transition tax credit and is intended for all owner-occupiers and lessors, as well as condominiums for work of collective interest.

The aid can cover up to the entire cost of the works for the most modest households, and more than half for the others. The amounts of aid vary according to the type of work and the level of income of the applicant. The work eligible for MaPrimeRénov’ mainly concerns thermal insulation, heating, ventilation and the production of domestic hot water.

MaPrimeRénov’ will continue to evolve. After several changes during 2022, the next big change is scheduled for April 1, 2023. Some energy renovation aid will indeed be eliminated for the wealthiest households. This is not the only change that will occur on April 1: the bonus of 1,000 euros paid by the State for the replacement of an oil or gas boiler with equipment running on renewable energies will also be abolished. These changes intervene to encourage the French to undertake energy renovation works.
