(Toronto) Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment has chosen Keith Pelley, general manager of DP World Tour golf and former president of Rogers Media, as its new president and CEO, according to a source.

The source was granted anonymity as the official announcement has not yet been made.

The appointment was first reported by TSN.

Pelley succeeds Michael Friisdahl, who left his position in February 2022 to take over as CEO of Signature Aviation, a multinational aviation services company based in the United Kingdom. Friisdahl had been at the helm since December 2015.

Chief Financial Officer Cynthia Devine served as MLSE’s interim president and CEO during the search for Friisdahl’s successor.

MLSE declined to comment on the new appointment.

Pelley was put in charge of the European Golf Tour, now known as the DP World Tour, in the summer of 2015.

Before taking over as CEO of Rogers Media in September 2010, he served as President of the Canadian Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, President and CEO of the Toronto Argonauts and President of TSN.

MLSE owns the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Marlies, Toronto FC and Argonauts.
