Maitena, Aizen and Ethnicity, winners of the Trophy Basque Coast

The XXIX edition of the Regatta, Basque Coast-Trophy Whale of Gold, that was attended by 30 participants among its different classes, concluded in the waters of vizcaya in the Open with another day of summer sunshine, but with wind more just in the initial. After the two routes of the day short, the ‘Maitena’ vizcaino Mikel Emaldi in the class Regatta -tied on points with the ‘Tchin Tchin’-, the ‘Aizen’ spaniard Gustavo Arce in the Cruiser class I, and the ‘Etnia Barcelona’, skippered by Peru Múgica, in the division J80, managed to chalk up victory to clinch the prized Whale of Gold, one of the trophies hunted by the patterns of the bay of Biscay.

The ‘Maitena’ Mikel Emaldi, after the two courses held, the second with a beautiful entry into the Open interior, he made a first and a fourth place, to be as well with the final triumph. It became very difficult for the ‘Tchin Tchin’ of José Luis Ribed, that it also added ten points, while the ‘Maitena’ was made with the whale by winning one of the tests scheduled by the committee in this class. Third overall for this Regatta, Basque Coast was the ‘Alpega’ of Alfonso Churruca, and after classified the ‘Urbegi’, ‘Akelarre’, ‘Symphony’, ‘Piper’, ‘Mylla’, ‘Mingus’ and ‘Rat Pack’.

By his side, the ‘Aizen’ of santander and Gustavo Arce retained his lead in the Cruiser class after two good races in which he sailed, without thinking of its main rivals, the ‘Impredigital Gorilón’ of Emigdio Bedia and the ‘Kribi’ of gipuzkoa Juan Manuel Pereiro, second and third on the podium, in front of the ‘Haiku’, ‘Hang Loose’, ‘The Saiola’, ‘Ramper’, ‘Kohen’, ‘Emilu’ and ‘Blai’. The ‘Aizen’, that operates best with strong winds, had to suffer in order to defend their privileged place on a Sunday with light winds from the north and northwest in its final stretch.

The XXIX Regatta Basque Coast-Trophy Whale of Gold, sponsored by Euskadiko Kirol Portuak, also played in the class J80, in which the ‘Etnia Barcelona’ came in first with 4 points thanks to four first places. Five points is ranked the ‘End Goal End’, skippered by Carmen Galdós, and the ‘Freus’ Christian Jauregui finished third, six points behind the winner. Later, he qualified the crew of the “Sailing School José Luis de Ugarte’ of Peru Abásolo. By his side, the ‘Krill’ of Santiago Orlando earned among the boats without a certificate.
