Macron and the songs of the Pyrenees: the funny extract that should not be missed

On the move in the Southwest, Emmanuel Macron did not fail to get noticed. And for good reason ! The President of the Republic has decided to shine with a welcoming committee of a somewhat special kind, informs Le Figaro on its site. Received by Gaëlle Vallin, the mayor of Argelès-Gazost, the Head of State traveled to his “cherished Pyrenees” on the occasion of the Tour de France, of which it was then the 18 stage. In front of a series of elected officials, traders and association representatives, Emmanuel Macron began to sing, taking up the refrain sung by an improvised choir a few steps away.

The choir, informs La Dépêche on its site, was made up of a dozen shepherds and gave voice to a very specific song: it was then a traditional Pyrenean tune. When he started to join the singers, the president got his own beret… and couldn’t hold back an embarrassed laugh. According to our colleagues, the discomfort of the president was palpable. The press headline goes so far as to say that Emmanuel Macron “obviously did not know the words of this typical song well”.

Information that is in obvious contradiction with that of Figaro. If the daily does not come back particularly on the supposed gene of the head of state, it dwells on the other hand more on the flame that this one declared to this region which was that of his grandmother. In addition, continues the national title, it would be the president himself who would have gone to see the choir to ask them the opportunity to sing one last song… of which he would know the words at his fingertips. The text, our colleagues continue, is by Edmond Duplan: it is the Refuge.
