Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, who has been out since March 20 with a high ankle sprain, could return from the longest lack of his career from the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
James plans to check his ankle and produce a game-time choice, sources said. He had been listed as out for Friday’s match, but he is expected to be upgraded to suspicious, sources told ESPN.
If James sits out Friday, he is very likely to return as soon as Sunday against the Toronto Raptors, sources said.
The Lakers have lost four of the previous five matches and are 8-13 this year without James, who’s averaging 25.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.9 assists.
Los Angeles, which started the season with a 21-6 record, now sits fifth in the Western Conference standings at 36-26 and has just a one-game lead on the No. 6 Dallas Mavericks and a two-game lead on the No. 7 Portland Trail Blazers with 10 games left in the regular season.
