Livret A: the rise in its rate confirmed by the Governor of the Banque de France

Facelift ? The Livret A should soon change its face, according to recent statements by François Villeroy de Galhau, the Governor of the Banque de France. Due to the high inflation that is hitting the country today – and even the continent -, the organization has announced a revision of the rate of return of the investment (almost) preferred by French women and men.

“There will be a further rise in the Livret A rate on August 1,” the governor of the Banque de France told RTL… who is not, strictly speaking, in a position to decide on an increase or not in yields This mission falls to Bercy, on the basis of the proposals made by the BDF.

As things stand, after an initial revaluation on February 1, 2022, the rate of return on the Livret A is 1%. It doubled at the start of the year, starting from 0.5%;, recalls the Journal du Net on its site. Today, continue our colleagues, inflation is estimated by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) at 5.2% over one year. It is the result of the economic recovery – which has led to an increase in consumption – and the war in Ukraine. Therefore, should we expect a comparable increase? Not necessarily.

The first figures have not been communicated, but it is clear that in 1981, high inflation did not mean a catch-up to the height. The rise in consumer prices was then estimated at 13.4%, while the Livret A rate was “only”… 8.5%.
