(Adelaide) LIV Golf, a dissident Saudi-funded golf circuit, is considering creating a women’s version, its chief executive, former Australian player Greg Norman, said on Thursday.

“It’s a discussion we have on a regular basis internally,” Norman explained in Adelaide on the eve of the first Australian stop in LIV circuit history.

“I have personally spoken with players from the LPGA Tour, LET Tour and Ladies European Tour. They love what our product showcases […] They keep asking us, “How can we get involved?” We would love to see a LIV circuit for women,” he continued.

The LIV sparked a revolution in the hushed world of the little white ball when it launched last year by successfully poaching star players from the American Men’s Tour (PGA) through highly lucrative contracts and richly endowed tournaments.

But the Australian is also aware that he must first perfect the male version, the second season of which began at the end of February.

“From our perspective, last year was a test season,” explained Norman, winner of two Grand Slam tournaments.

“We believe in our future and we will be steadfast in our commitment,” Norman stressed, as the European circuit DP World Tour recently won a first legal battle against its members who participated in LIV without its permission.

“From LIV’s perspective, we will always support our players,” he promised. But I hope a solution will be found, because golf cannot suffer” from this competition.
