Lisa LaFlamme wants to get involved in the causes that are dear to her

Former CTV National News anchor Lisa LaFlamme opened up in an interview with CBC on Wednesday about her desire to continue to engage in the issues close to her heart, nearly eight months later. his dismissal.

“The rights of women, their challenges, from the youngest to the oldest, those of indigenous people, black people or people of color have always been things that I have been interested in,” she told the English-language network.

The journalist also highlighted her recent involvement with Journalists for Human Rights, a Canadian organization that campaigns for better coverage of human rights issues.

Lisa LaFlamme announced in a video posted on Twitter last August that Bell Media had terminated her contract after 35 years, saying she was “taken aback” by the decision.

Bell Media said the termination of his contract was a business decision to steer the anchor role in “a different direction,” but many commenters raised questions about the sexism and ageism behind this redesign.

Since her dismissal, the former CTV news anchor has covered the death of Queen Elizabeth II as a special correspondent for CityNews last September.
