(Gothenburg) Slovakia scored four power play goals to beat Norway 8-4 on Friday at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Servac Petrovsky and Dalibor Dvorsky both finished the game with two goals and two assists to lead Slovakia (3-0-0-0) to its third win in as many preliminary round games.

Norway (0-0-0-3) remains winless at the tournament, which is being played in Sweden.

Samuel Honzek, Juraj Pekarcik, Peter Repcik and Luka Radivojevic also scored in the victory. Slovakia led 7-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard scored two goals for Norway. Stian Solberg and Petter Vesterheim also found the back of the net.

Slovakia will face the United States on Saturday. The winner of this match will finish at the top of their group.

For its part, Norway will play against Switzerland.

Noa Vali stopped 23 shots to help Finland shut out Latvia.

Jere Lassila opened the scoring in the first period, in addition to obtaining an assist on the next three goals.

Jesse Pulkkinen, Kasper Halttunen and Oiva Keskinen also scored for Finland, which secured a place in the quarter-finals with its victory.

Deivs Rolovs blocked 39 shots in the loss.

Latvia will play on Saturday against Germany. Finland will face Sweden on Sunday.

Isaac Howard opened the scoring and scored the shootout winner for the United States, which won a close matchup against the Czech Republic in Group B.

Howard scored in the first period and ended the debate in the seventh round of the shootout.

Will Smith and Ryan Chesley also scored in regulation for the Americans.

Jakub Stancl, Adam Bares and Robin Sapousek scored for the Czech Republic, which will face Switzerland on Sunday.
