Bad news for Tristan Luneau. The Quebec defender will ultimately not be able to participate in the World Juniors due to an injury, Hockey Canada announced Saturday afternoon.

Same thing for defender Tanner Molendyk, also injured.

However, no details on the nature of their injuries were shared. According to TSN journalist Mark Masters, Luneau is suffering from a viral infection, while Molendyk is injured in the wrist.

Jorian Donovan of the Brantford Bulldogs and Ty Nelson of the North Bay Battalion in the Ontario Junior League will replace them on the Team Canada roster.

The Canadian squad lost its last preparatory match against the United States on Saturday. She will begin her tournament on Tuesday, December 26, when she faces Finland.
