Happy birthday to the favorite guardian angel of the French. Since December 15, 1997, Mimie Mathy has played Joséphine Delamarre, a governess like no other who helps people overcome their daily problems. With more than one trick up her sleeve, the heroine manages to lend them a hand in their life choices around societal themes (education, ecology, harassment, etc.).
After 25 years on the air on TF1, Joséphine, guardian angel continues to establish itself among the flagship series with millions of viewers. However, the soap opera almost disappeared from our screens. Questioned this December 9 by our colleagues from Ciné-Télé Revue, actress Mimie Mathy revealed that she had lowered her salary to save the series, a few years earlier.
“We are living in another era with streaming platforms. The fees that the actors of Navarro or Julie Lescaut received, that no longer exists”, confided the sixty-year-old, adding. “So it’s normal to reduce your salary. I accepted that without any problem, it allows you to continue to work a lot of people, technicians, actors”. However, out of the question for the heroine to think of retiring.
“For the moment, we continue. We are shooting two more next year. Even if we no longer score ten years ago, it is a series that still has its place”, reassures the actress and historical member of the Enfoirés. After a quarter of a century of existence, Mimie Mathy has also played alongside stars who have joined the series for an episode.
Figures from the small screen like Jean-Luc Reichmann and Tatiana Silva, or even the ex-heroine of TF1 Corinne Touzet who returned to our screens in 2020. “Before, I received guests in Une femme d’honneur, but, this time, I am the guest of Mimie Mathy!”, she rejoiced with Ouest-France. If the actress returned to her first love, this world was brand new for the weather presenter, supported by Mimie Mathy during filming. “She gave me the right to make mistakes with a lot of benevolence. And she is far from foreign to the good general impression that I keep from this first experience”, she confided in Télé Star.
