A tribute that brought together all those close to Bébel. On April 12, 2023, the embankment of the Bir-Hakeim bridge was renamed “Promenade Jean-Paul Belmondo” in honor of the Magnificent, who died on September 6, 2021 at the age of 88. A place that was not chosen at random since it was here that he had performed a stunt on the roof of the metro in the feature film Peur sur la ville in 1975.

On this occasion, many celebrities made the trip including the actor Jean Dujardin, Francis Huster, Cyrielle Clair or the director Claude Lelouch. They were not the only ones to have attracted all eyes since the family of Jean-Paul Belmondo was also present. Stella, Luana and Paul Belmondo attended the ceremony, but also Vahé, the comedian’s only great-grandson who stole the show from his parents.

“Jean-Paul Belmondo was Paris. A voice, a Parisian titi look and great kindness. Paris, his grateful city that he loved so much, honors his memory by giving his name to one of his most beautiful walks on a bridge in Paris, facing the Eiffel Tower”, then declared the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo on her social networks.

For his part, Paul Belmondo also welcomed this tribute to his father by declaring on his Instagram account: “Today, April 12, inauguration of the Jean Paul Belmondo promenade under the Bir-Hakeim bridge. Thank you to Marie de Paris and thank you to all of you for coming to share this beautiful moment with us“, he wrote.
