Javier Garat (Sanlúcar de Barrameda, 1971) is the secretary-general of the Spanish Confederation of Fishing (Cepesca) and president of the patronal european fishing Europêche. Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and master in International and European Law from the Catholic University of Louvain (U. C. L. Belgium) has always been linked to the themes of fishing, either at the Permanent Representation of Spain in Brussels and since 2001 in the Spanish Federation of Fishing Organisations (Feope):

– How you are living the new normal in the fisheries sector? Do you continue to worry about the relays of crews and the lack of protection?

most ships that had been stopped by the STRONG have returned to fishing. Now it’s going to be very important that you begin the arrival of tourism, as it will increase the pull. With regard to the relay we had a good news few days ago: the flight slope to Senegal, which was cancelled on June 4, was made on 14 June and a number of crew members from shellfish and tuna were relieved. Still pending some flights Peru, Uruguay, and Namibia, which by now we have not managed to do.
