(Vaudreuil-Dorion) Walmart Canada is abandoning its plan to open a new distribution center in Quebec in Vaudreuil-Dorion, in the Montreal region, the retailer announced.

The project was to represent an investment of 100 million. The opening was planned for early this year.

Walmart Canada spokesperson Sarah Kennedy confirmed the change of plans in an emailed statement, but did not elaborate on the company’s reasons for the decision.

Ms. Kennedy says Walmart Canada will instead focus on accelerating its plans to renovate its store network, including in Quebec.

Walmart plans to invest around $100 million to renovate eight stores in Quebec by the end of its next fiscal year.

Walmart has spent more than $120 million on store renovations in Quebec over the past two years.
