Inflation in the Eurozone down more than expected | business

Luxembourg (dpa) – Inflation in the Eurozone went in April, even more than expected. As the statistics office Eurostat announced on Wednesday in Luxembourg, the consumer prices 0.3 percent higher than a year earlier.

In March the inflation rate amounted to 0.7 percent. In a first estimate of a rise of 0.4 percent was determined. Economists had expected a confirmation of the first estimate. In a monthly comparison, the cost of living increased by 0.3 percent.

Inflation significantly below the target value of the European Central Bank (ECB) over the medium term of just under two percent. Experts believe that it is abating in the coming months due to the severe recession. The recent recovery of crude oil prices is likely to be slightly supportive.
