In view of inflation and the decline in the purchasing power of French households, some brands are positioning themselves on the side of consumers and want to reopen negotiations with manufacturers. Dominique  Schelcher, CEO of System U, had already made the decision to remove several brands from the shelves of its stores. A month later, it was the turn of the Belgian distributor Colruyt to no longer sell certain products.

The Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire even spoke several weeks ago asking manufacturers to discuss the price of their products with distributors. Prices which had undergone a strong increase at the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, but which can now be revised downwards in view of the prices of energy and raw materials which are no longer as high as they used to be. a few months old. Indeed, the tariffs have again become similar to those of pre-war.

According to distributor Colryut, industrialist Mondelez wanted to increase the price of their products. As The Independent explains to us: “The company did not wish to specify when Mondelez made this request”. Their negotiation did not conclude with an agreement between the two parties, who had already agreed on the prices for 2023.

This is why Monzelez brands of beverages, chocolate, biscuits, snacks, sweets and chewing gum will no longer be on the shelves of Colryut stores.
