Been to Ineos? Probably not. The British multinational is active in the field of chemical products and sponsors, among other things, a cycling team. After years of development, it also entered the automotive industry in a rather iconoclastic way. The Grenadier, whose production began in 2022 in France, picks up where the previous generation of the Land Rover Defender left off.

This new SUV, which will land in Canada in early 2024, is a true adventurer with its ladder frame and two rigid axles. It can be equipped with three locking differentials as well as various elements to facilitate off-road driving. Its very cubic design is undeniably reminiscent of the inspiration from the Defender.

Under the hood is a BMW-built 3.0L turbocharged inline-six with 282 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. It’s bolted to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

For those interested, this model will have a starting price in Canada of $91,929, which makes it more than $19,000 more expensive than the entry version of the latest Land Rover Defender. However, the approaches are quite different. Ineos has confirmed to us that pre-orders will open on May 31 and that we will know in August which Canadian dealers for the brand will be.
