This time round Chevy is sending the convertible variant of the two-door sports automobile , which is going to be the first drop-top to direct the field because the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible at 2011.
The Corvette Stingray Convertible includes a retractable hardtop design and weighs only 80 pounds over the coupe model.
The production-spec pace car features gray and yellow sport chairs, a 495 hp 6.2-liter, Z51 performance package and discretionary high-wing spoiler, but has been equipped with racing harnesses, emergency lighting and Indy 500 logos for the event.
A Corvette Stingray using all the high-downforce Z51 package has a top speed over 180 miles, but won’t have to go that fast at Indy, where the pace car only needs to reach 130 mph.
This year’s pace car’s driver has not yet been declared. Several identical cars are supplied, with one going into the winner of this race.
A fleet of Chevrolet Camaro convertibles may also be used as support vehicles for the function.
