As evidenced by a survey carried out by OpinionWay for Quintésens* and relayed by Les Echos. Indeed, 41% of French people express a negative feeling with regard to the declaration of income. For a third of households, this period would even represent the worst time of the year.
The most resistant to this test are, unsurprisingly, the youngest (between 25 and 34 years old). Among them, 33% say they suffer from anxiety because of the declaration of income. “The deep ignorance of the French in terms of taxation” would be one of the main causes of this anxiety, reveals the survey.
Thus, if the declaration is often perceived as a chore, it is also a support which makes it possible to claim its tax advantages. However, here too, tax ignorance is not without effects since the survey reveals that 82% of taxed taxpayers acknowledge that they do not reduce the amount of their tax thanks to the tax loopholes to which they are eligible. 1 out of 5 French people even admit not knowing at all what a tax shelter is.
Fortunately, to allow you to rectify your errors or claim a forgotten tax reduction, the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFIP) has set up a correction system that can be used after receipt of the tax notice. tax following the declaration filed and signed before the filing deadline.
