The Syrian government to equip its troops on the outskirts of the Turkish Offensive threatened Region of Manbij. In the past two days, fighters and military vehicles had been on the border of the area, which is controlled by Kurdish forces, reported the Syrian Observatory for human rights on Thursday.

“The troops were sent to the areas near Manbij, in order to prevent an attack by Turkey,” said the head of the human rights activist, Rami Abdel Rahman, the German press Agency (dpa).

Pro-Government circles in Damascus, said the dpa, an elite force of the presidential guard and the artillery had been moved in to the Region. The territory around Manbij is under the control of the Kurdish militia YPG. Turkey sees the YPG as an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdish workers ‘ party PKK and thus a terrorist organization.

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had been long threatened with an Offensive against the YPG in the Region of Manbij, but last week, for the first time moved. Observers estimate that such an attack by the President, Donald Trump announced withdrawal of American troops is favored in Syria.
