Unpublished excerpts from Amy Winehouse’s diary will be reproduced in a beautiful book which will also include never before seen family photos and handwritten texts of her songs. The news was first announced on the British singer’s official Twitter account, which is administered by her estate.

The book, titled In Her Words, will be released on August 29, two weeks before the British singer’s birthday, who turns 40 on September 14. A music icon with a charged and powerful voice, which combined jazz, soul and pop, Amy Winehouse died of an alcohol overdose in July 2011 at the age of 27.

“It is an intimate tribute to his creativity and artistic talent,” reads the book description published by the Harper Collins publishing house website. The singer’s parents, Janis and Mitch Winehouse, did the research and selection of the documents, in collaboration with the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The memory of Amy Winehouse continues to generate interest, even 12 years after her death: the filming of a biopic, Back to Black, began in January in London. The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (50 Shades of Grey), who was a friend of the singer, and stars Marisa Abela (Industry) in the lead role.
