The inflatable, or freestanding, pool has many advantages: it is much less expensive than its more “solid” alternatives, it finds its place everywhere and can be put away as soon as autumn arrives. But this summer accessory loved by young and old also has some drawbacks. It is particularly quite fragile.

The sun, cleaning products, animals or even swimmers can damage its fabric over time. Holes and leaks are common, and your pool can suddenly start deflating visibly.

No need to replace it though! Small tears can be repaired quite easily, using a PVC patch, for example, or mastic.

Still need to know where to position it…

In a few cases, the cavity responsible is visible to the naked eye. But sometimes, despite your observation efforts, it seems impossible to detect where the leak is coming from.

First reflex: “inspect the valves and welds where the leaks are often located”, explains guide-piscine.fr.

If you still don’t notice anything, inflate your pool to the maximum and listen: the fateful hole will be where you detect a hissing sound, according to raviday.

You can also completely empty your inflatable pool, and spray it with soapy water or dishwashing liquid. “The air leak will thus form soap bubbles, making it easy to find the hole”, continues the site.

If you have a tubular pool, it is also possible to proceed otherwise. You can let your pool drain: when the phenomenon stops by itself, walk around the liner at the water line, looking for the hole.
