If the smell of mulled wine, roasted almonds and Christmas cookies in the air, fir trees set up and the streets are bursting with decorations, Christmas front of the door. For Christians, the Christmas season begins with cookies, baking, Christmas cards and the seemingly endless purchase of Gift. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the four million Muslims meet in Germany this question: “Celebrating your Christmas?”

Just a few know that it is in their Scripture, the Koran, a birth story of Jesus. In verses 22 and 23 of the 19. Sure is told that Jesus was born in a “distant place” under a palm tree. The miracle of conception, the evidence that God can create things out of Nothing is made here, as also in the Bible. Muslims see Jesus as a prophet, the one they call Isa, a messenger of God, but not unlike the Christians – his son.

Even if the Qur’an describes the birth of Jesus, moving, Christmas, with its traditions of a Christian. The birth of Jesus has for Muslims, no religious significance, unlike Christmas for Christians. However, even among Non-Christians there are in Germany and in many Muslim countries people celebrate the Feast: for cultural reasons.

the Especially the Muslims living in Europe enjoy the traditions associated with Christmas: making an advent calendar to take a stroll over Christmas markets, bake cookies, decorate the house and to give presents to the children. However, this Christmas, features Muslims connect more with the celebrations of the turn of the year than with the birth of Jesus. Gifts there is from the reason, it is often only on new year’s eve. A decorated tree, similar to the Christian Christmas tree very. Also the get-togethers with family and a feast – traditional roast Turkey is served on new year’s eve.
