An essential figure in the Quebec media landscape, Denise Bombardier died of liver cancer in July at the age of 82.

Ms. Bombardier was as much known for her outspokenness as for her writing.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante described Denise Bombardier as a “woman of her words and spirit”, but also a great Montrealer who had the courage of her opinions.

Coming from a working-class family, Denise Bombardier obtained a master’s degree in political science and a doctorate in sociology at the Sorbonne in Paris. She notably worked for more than 30 years at Radio-Canada.
