Every year, the most beautiful villages are designated by the French. These rare pearls of our heritage are nestled all over the country and cover even the most unknown reliefs. They are found in Normandy, Corsica, Alsace, Provence… but also in Brittany, the Loire Valley or Burgundy. All could decorate a postcard. There is, of course, the town of Eguisheim, in Alsace. It is she, moreover, who dominates the ranking, informs the specialized site Explore France. But we must also mention Veules-les-Roses (Normandy), Saint-Suliac (Brittany) or Montrésor, from the Loire Valley. Without forgetting, of course, Châteauneuf, in Burgundy, and Bonneval-sur-Arc, in the Alps. Vacationers and tourists who don’t know where to go are spoiled for choice.

The less convinced can also leave for Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, in the Basque Country or for Auvillar in Occitanie. Or take a detour via Les Baux-de-Provence… in Provence. Finally, how can we forget Piana, in Corsica?

Alas, for all these localities with incredible panoramas, there is also the exact opposite. Did you know ? There is even a ranking of the ugliest cities in France. One of them is compiled by the specialist site Paysages de France, the other by Le Globe Trotteur. Summary in our slideshow, which you will find below, at the conclusion of this article.

The cities, indicate the sites, are selected on the basis of photos sent in the context of competitions or on the sole judgment of the administrators.
