Heat wave: the trick with aluminum foil to keep you cooler

Temperatures worthy of August. France will sweat this weekend with the arrival of the first heat wave of the year, starting this Thursday, June 10. Temperatures will gradually rise to reach their maximum this Sunday, June 13, since 35°C are expected in the south-west of the country. A godsend for those who will be able to enjoy a cool swimming pool or a swim in the open sea, bad news for those who are stuck in the city.

When the mercury rises outside, it also rises inside. Living in poorly insulated accommodation or without an air conditioning system, many French people have bad nights when it is very hot. Planet has given you some tips for naturally cooling your interior without a fan, but do you know the aluminum technique? Very useful in the kitchen, these sheets can also protect you from the heat this weekend, if you use them correctly.

To do this is very simple. If you do not have solar protection films to stick on your windows most exposed to the sun, use aluminum! Start by cutting pieces of cardboard to the size of your windows, then cover them with aluminum foil, before placing them in front of your windows. Thanks to this device, the heat will have a much harder time getting into your home. Of course, this won’t completely prevent the sun’s rays from warming your interior, but, coupled with other tips, it’s a good way to limit the inconvenience… And to have a good night’s sleep, come evening .

Among other tips, you can also hang a damp cloth in front of your window or in front of a fan. This will refresh the air in your home and keep it cool. Indeed, when water evaporates, it captures ambient heat. You can also perform this trick with a bottle taken from the freezer or ice cubes. This fan actually only stirs air and placing it in front of you is actually not the right solution. In reality, it is better to open your window wide and position your fan directly in front. By laying it like this, the hot air in the room should be expelled outside.
