Cree singer Buffy Sainte-Marie announced last night that she will no longer be performing.

In a statement, she cited several reasons, including travel-related health concerns and physical limitations.

She says arthritis issues in her hands and a recent shoulder injury prevent her from performing to her standards.

The 82-year-old singer became the first Indigenous artist to win an Oscar in 1982 for co-writing the song Up Where We Belong in the film Officer and a Gentleman.
