(Toronto) Vladimir Guerrero hit a three-run homer on Friday, helping the Toronto Blue Jays win 3-0 over the Boston Red Sox.

Guerrero hit his 23rd homer in the third inning, helping his team end a four-game losing streak.

“The key is to put this behind us,” the first baseman said through an interpreter of the Rangers’ sweep.

“I’m just staying positive, that’s all,” Guerrero added. We continue to work hard. »

Texas, the Seattle Mariners and the Blue Jays are fighting to sneak into the playoffs in the American.

The top 3 clubs that are not section champions also gain access.

This trio is led by a wide margin by Tampa Bay, followed by Texas and the Mariners. The latter have a priority match over Toronto.

Seattle hosts the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Between now and the end of the season, there will be seven games between Texas and the Mariners.

José Berríos (11-10) struck out eight batters in seven innings, allowing five hits.

He signed a second consecutive victory, after a streak of 0-3 in five outings starting in mid-August.

“We want to collect victories, no matter how it is,” Berrios said. We just went through a bad streak, but we have turned the page. »

Jordan Hicks pitched in the eighth inning and Markham’s Jordan Romano picked up a 35th save.

Two of the visitors’ hits were doubles from Justin Turner.

Romano disposed of him at bat with four fastballs.

A candle from Alex Verdugo was caught by Matt Chapman, then Masataka Yoshida was also struck out. The game ended when he hit nothing but air on a fast drive right through the heart of the plate.

The victory was won in front of 35,680 people at the Rogers Centre.

Brayan Bello (12-9) allowed three runs and four hits in six innings, striking out 10 batters.

Daulton Varsho and Bo Bichette occupied the paths during Guerrero’s long ball, his second in two days.

Saturday’s starting pitchers will be Chris Sale (6-4) and Chris Bassitt (14-8). The match will begin at 3:07 p.m.
