We can now put a name to the huge building that recently came out of the ground in the west of Laval. The occupier will be logistics expert Groupe Robert, adding a warehouse to a well-stocked portfolio.

Located at the Center corporatif Laval, the imposing structure of 28,000 square meters in dark colors was built by the Montoni Group at a cost of 70 million. It occupies the northeast quadrant of the crossroads formed by Highway 13 and Boulevard Saint-Martin West.

Groupe Robert will take possession of the premises next July.

Forty jobs will be created. These are related to the management of the activities of a distribution center (rolling equipment operator, order picker, administrative staff, for example).

Due to its large size, the Laval warehouse gives the group the opportunity to offer its customers “consolidation and optimization options”, says the press release announcing the occupant of the premises.

Groupe Robert is much more than a trucking company. Expert in 3PL logistics (third party logistics), he can take care of the management of storage, the preparation of orders as well as the transport of goods for the benefit of third parties.

“The choice of this eco-responsible building demonstrates all the attention we pay to sustainable development and how our company can set an example for its customers,” said Michel Robert, president of Groupe Robert, in the press release.

In this regard, the Montoni warehouse is aiming for both ZCB-Design and ZCB-Performance zero carbon certifications from the Canada Green Building Council and LEED v4 NE Silver level certification.

“This agreement demonstrates the interest that Quebec companies have for buildings that respect the environment,” adds Dario Montoni, President of the Montoni Group.

Montoni has nearly 400,000 m⁠2 of LEED-certified buildings. Moreover, projects of nearly 650,000 m⁠2 of LEED buildings and 185,000 m⁠2 of net zero carbon buildings are in the pipeline.

Among its latest achievements is the Ecoparc project in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, a new generation industrial campus worth over $450 million aiming for dual LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
