(LONDON) Global markets were up on Monday morning after the release of encouraging US labor market data on Friday.

London’s FTSE 100 jumped 1% at the start of European trading. The French CAC 40 added 0.1% and the German DAX 0.6%.

In New York, before markets open, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Broad S Index

In Asia, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.4% in Tokyo. The Shanghai Stock Exchange lost 0.4%. The Kospi advanced 0.9% in Seoul. Markets were closed in Hong Kong and Sydney.

On the New York Commodities Exchange, the price of oil added 20 US cents to US$80.90 a barrel.
