More than 1,700 attendees dressed as Harry Potter gathered over the weekend in Hamburg, Germany, to mark the release of the first book in the saga written by J.K. Rowling 25 years ago.

According to European media, including French Le Figaro, this would be a new world record of participants (1758, to be precise) gathered at the same time to celebrate the birthday, in a way, of Harry Potter.

The first book in the famous series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was released in England in 1997, but most translations, including the German and French versions, were released the following year, in 1998. The majority of admirers present wore the black cape and round glasses, characteristic of the young wizard of Hogwarts.

In 2017, the Australian city of Perth set the previous record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Harry Potter with 997 attendees.
