Fuel shortage: the 23 departments still out of stock

A situation still under tension in certain departments. Many French people can again refuel quietly, or almost, in stations where the flow has returned to normal. For others, it’s still the obstacle course to fill up their tank, between the stations out of their fuel and those which have still not reopened… As a result, big disparities now exist in France.

As a reminder, two refineries are still blocked in France by a social movement until Thursday, October 27 at the earliest. These are the Feyzin refinery, in the Rhône and that of Gonfreville-l’Orcher, in Seine-Maritime. The question of wages is notably on the negotiating table between management and the unions. As Midi Libre explains, the CGT – which keeps the pressure on – must convene a General Assembly by the end of the week in order to decide whether or not to extend the movement.

Tensions continue in France at the pump since this Wednesday, October 26, according to the shortage.mon-essence.fr site, more than 2,300 stations are partially out of fuel and 891 are even in total rupture. This is down compared to Monday, October 24, when more than 2,500 service stations were partially out of stock and 1,160 in total out of stock. While these figures are encouraging, they in no way reflect the situation locally, as some departments are still more affected than others.

This is particularly the case in the Paris region, where Ile-de-France residents may have difficulty finding gasoline, but also in the east of the country, where many stations are out of at least one fuel. According to figures relayed by Agence France-Presse on Monday October 24 and taken up by L’Aveyronnais, 23 departments are still in a complicated situation, with at least 30% of service stations out of fuel. Find out which ones below.
