FR-Alert: how does this device that sends alerts directly to your smartphone work?

You have a new message. By the end of June 2022, a new system will be deployed throughout France: FR-Alert. This is a system of priority notifications that appear on your smartphone if you are in a risk area. To receive the alert, you don’t need to download an application: it bursts directly onto your screen, regardless of whether it is silent or locked. It can be accompanied by a sound notification or a vibration. Note: some people have received a request to update the operator settings, necessary to take advantage of the device.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, here is the list of incidents affected by the system:

The FR-Alert system not only informs you of the nature of a serious event in your area. Here is the information contained in the notification:

You will also receive notifications informing you of the evolution of the situation, details of the danger involved and the end of the alert.
