(Calgary) Suncor Energy reports its fourth quarter upstream production was 808,000 barrels per day, the second highest quarterly production in its history.

The Calgary-based company says operations in the last three months of the year have allowed it to record an average annual upstream production of 746,000 barrels per day in 2023.

In the fourth quarter, Suncor’s net synthetic crude oil production was 476,000 barrels per day and non-upgraded bitumen production was 282,000 barrels per day, bringing total oil sands production to 758,000 barrels per day.

Total output from its exploration and production operations was 50,000 barrels per day in the fourth quarter, including increased production at Terra Nova.

Suncor says its downstream operations had an average refinery utilization rate of 97% in the fourth quarter.

The company is scheduled to report its fourth-quarter results on February 21.
