(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes announced Wednesday that former star defensive player Glen Weir has passed away.
According to the team, Weir passed away on Monday at the age of 71.
Weir played 203 games in 13 seasons with the Montreal team, between 1972 and 1984. The defensive tackle evolved at a time when defensive statistics were not counted, which did not prevent him from being named at six times on the East Division All-Star Team.
He helped the Alouettes lift the Gray Cup in 1974 and 1977.
