(New York) Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett was fined US$5,000 for cross-checking Michael Bunting of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced the penalty Friday. This is the maximum amount allowed under the collective agreement.
The incident occurred Thursday, during the second game of the series between the two teams. Bennett took a Minor penalty on the streak at 15:00 of the second period.
The Panthers eventually won the game 4-2 and lead the series 2-0. The third game will be presented Sunday, in Florida.
The amount will be donated to the player emergency fund.
