Florent Pagny: where did he meet his wife Azucena Caamaño?

After breaking up with singer Vanessa Paradis in 1991, Florent Pagny found love again with a certain Azucena Caamaño, a painter and former Argentinian model. The future lovers meet at a dinner where they were both invited, as his wife had declared during the documentary Florent Pagny a free man, broadcast in January 2023 on TF1.

“I find myself at a party and Florent arrives. He had lots of very strange accessories for me at that time, an improbable dog, it was the first time that I had seen an all-white bull terrier (…) and a gorgeous but tuned car,” she said, adding, “I thought, ‘Who can do such a thing?’ I was told, “Ah, it’s Pagny.” “And the dog?” “Ah, it’s Pagny.” Who’s Pagny?” When I introduced myself and shook his hand, he pulled it away. I said to myself, who is this guy who is pulling my hand? ‘It’s Pagny’. He had it all wrong in fact”.

An astonishing meeting to which Azucena Caamaño did not hang on, finding that he had “weird jokes”. “Slowly, he was flirting with me but I didn’t know it was flirting… I thought it was a bit aggressive. He always had weird jokes or almost aggressive words,” she recalls. “I was told he was clumsily trying to flirt with me,” she explained and realized, “It was clumsiness and shyness. It was nice and my outlook on him changed.”

A meeting which was nevertheless saving for the artist who is currently suffering from lung cancer. Indeed, at that time, he was “at the bottom of the bottom”, as he revealed in the program 8:30 p.m. on Sundays on France 2 in 2019. “We are a karmic couple. Our destiny was to meet and accompany each other to precisely come back from where I was, from the hole, and surpass myself (…) I had a way of flirting which is a little weird, at the time. never been very good at flirting. It’s true that at one point, she said to herself ‘he’s weird, that one’.

Since then, Florent Pagny and his partner got married in 2006 and had two children: Inca (born in 1996) and Aël (born in 1999).
